Data center scale exceeds 5.9 million standard racks

On November 2, Hebei Provincial Government Information Office held a press conference for the 2022 China International Digital Economy Expo. Wang Jianwei, Deputy Director of the Information Technology Development Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, introduced at the conference that the CPC Central Committee and the State Council attach great importance to the development of the digital economy and regard the development of the digital economy as a national strategy. In recent years, China's digital economy has made remarkable achievements, and its overall scale has ranked second in the world for many consecutive years. A series of achievements have been made in the construction of digital infrastructure, the development of digital industry, the integration of digital economy and real economy, the governance of digital economy, and the deepening of international cooperation, which have provided strong impetus for economic and social development.

Digital infrastructure has achieved leapfrog development. China has built the world's largest and technologically leading optical fiber and mobile networks. The length of optical cable lines has increased from 14.79 million kilometers in 2012 to 54.81 million kilometers in 2021, a 2.7 fold increase. As of September 2022, the total number of 5G base stations will reach 2.22 million, and the number of 5G mobile phone users will reach 510 million. The national integrated big data center system has been basically built. The scale of the data center has exceeded 5.9 million standard racks, and the implementation of the project of "channeling the computer resources from the east to the west" has been accelerated.

Key digital industries speed up innovative breakthrough. The vitality of industrial innovation continues to improve. In 2021, the number of invention patents granted for the core industries of the digital economy reached 276,000, accounting for 39.6% of the total number of invention patents granted in the same period. The digital industry grew rapidly. From 2012 to 2021, the national software business revenue increased from 2.5 trillion Chinese yuan to 9.55 trillion Chinese yuan, with an average annual growth rate of 16.1%. By 2021, the scale of big data industry will reach 1.3 trillion Chinese yuan. The exploration of data element market continues to deepen, Beijing, Shanghai, Zhengzhou and other places carry out the construction of data trading institutions, and the value of data elements is released faster.

The integration of digital economy and real economy has become increasingly solid. The great article of deep integration of informatization and industrialization is getting better and better. There are more than 150 industrial Internet platforms with industrial and regional influence nationwide, over 79 million sets of industrial equipment connected, and more than 1.6 million industrial enterprises served, helping the manufacturing industry to reduce costs and increase efficiency. The intelligent manufacturing project has been deeply implemented. There are more than 6,000 incubation solution providers, and the service scope covers more than 90% of the manufacturing industry. New scenarios, new models, and new business types such as unmanned intelligent inspection, digital factories, and intelligent mines have flourished.

Positive results are achieved in the governance of the digital economy. The Network Security Law, the Data Security Law, and the Personal Information Protection Law have been promulgated and implemented successively. The Digital Economy Development Plan in the Fourteenth Five-Year Period has been officially issued, and the policy system has been continuously optimized. At the 26th Meeting of the Central Committee for Comprehensively Deepening Reform, the Opinions on Building a Data Base System to Give Better Play to the Role of Data Elements were deliberated and adopted, initially establishing a data base system. We will improve the network security coordination mechanism, basically build a national provincial enterprise three-level industrial Internet security technology monitoring and service system, and continue to strengthen network security early warning and handling capabilities.

International cooperation in the digital economy continues to deepen. Take "The Belt and Road" construction as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation with countries along the line in network infrastructure construction, network security and other aspects, and promote the construction of a community of shared future in cyberspace. The initiative is launched to join a series of international cooperation initiatives and agreements such as the G20 Digital Economy Development and Cooperation Initiative and "The Belt and Road" Digital Economy International Cooperation Initiative. Bilateral and multilateral digital governance cooperation is actively carried out so as to promote the establishment of an open, fair and non-discriminatory digital business environment.
